Press Release August 2011

August 2011 – Established  interior designer Kimberley Bell of KB Interiors, Northumberland, launches her first fabric collection, Peony & Sage. A collection of subtly coloured linens, Peony & Sage was inspired by the colours and textures found in nature – as well as by the colour palettes from Farrow & Ball and other heritage paint colours.  Kimberley says: “Having dealt with beautiful fabrics and wallpapers for most of my career, creating my own range felt like the natural next step.”

The linens are complemented by a range of beautiful faded tweeds which have already been snapped up by  The whole collection was designed to be versatile: the linens to appeal to different tastes and suitable for all room types, for curtains and upholstery, while the tweeds are as at home in a city pad as they are in a ski chalet or a traditional country house.

Kimberley explains: “I specifically designed fabrics suitable for every room in the home. I wanted them to be delicate and timeless to suit elegant understated homes.”  There are four series in the collection, “Botanical Series”; highly detailed drawings from nature, the “Vintage Series”; faded florals and fauna, “Dots”, all things dotty to support the previous series, and “Tweeds” 100% pure wool tweeds suitable for upholstery.

Some of the patterns were based on Kimberley’s own artwork and she took inspiration from hand thrown pottery by Audrey Felger of Back Creek Pottery and from Drawings From Nature’s Eileen Postlethwaite, with whom she collaborated on some of the designs and a couple were worked on with Julia Patton who illustrated Kimberley’s website.  All fabrics are 100% linen printed in the UK and the tweeds, 100% wool woven in Scotland.  “I could have saved money importing fabrics, but I wanted to contribute in some way to boost UK Trade and Export.”
